Fluidized Air Blower Design Calculations

 

1.   Fluidized air volume required:

= (fluidized bed area) ´ (design air velocity = 0.275 m/s @ 0.3 m/s) ´ 3,600

= (2.907 m2) ´ (0.3 m/s) ´ 3,600 sec/hr = 3,140 Nm3/hr

 

2.   Air volume design safety allowance factor = 1.2

      Required air volume:

      = 3,140 Nm3/hr ´ 1.2 ¸ 60 = 62.8 Nm3/min

      = 62.8 Nm3/hr ´ (273 + 28) ¸ 273 = 69.2 m3/min (at 28 °C)

 

3.   Design duct air velocity = 12 m/sec

      Required duct diameter:

      = 69.2 m3/min ¸ (60 ´ 12) = 0.096 m2

      = (0.096 ´ 4 ¸ p)0.5 = 0.35 m @ 400 mm

 

4.   Design pressure drops:

      = estimated nozzle pressure drops + estimated duct work pressure drops

      = 1,556 + 30 = 1,586 mmAq

 

5.   Pressure drops design safety allowance factor = 1.35

      Required pressure drops = 1,586 ´ 1.35 = 2,141 mmAq @ 2,200 mmAq

 

6.   Design blower efficiency = 70%

      Required blower power:

      = 69.2 m3/min ´ 2,200 mmAq ¸ (6,120 ´ 0.7) = 35.5 kw @ 40 kw
